Older 0.x versions ignore the first number of a version when they check for updates, so they offer
this release as version 0.99.99. It is not a separate release: it is the current version below.

A faster, more capable QuickInstaller
This release adds recoverable self-updates, Portable QuickInstaller editions, MSIX support, and more reliable app maintenance.
QuickInstaller itself now never runs elevated, which makes it much more secure than before: the app you use every day no longer has administrator rights over your PC.
Installer
Runs Setup and downloads the supported Windows Desktop Runtime automatically if it is missing.
Fix: Update checks and downloads fail less often and explain failures more clearly. QuickInstaller shows fewer unnecessary error messages and sends fewer unnecessary diagnostic reports. Firewall rules for the update helper keep working between update checks. More apps install from Browse Apps, including Python and portable apps that were just updated. Updating or installing an app whose definition has no silent installer option now starts its installer instead of failing. Restore points before installs now work with administrator approval. Filters, column widths, keyboard shortcuts and the navigation menu work as expected. An app uninstalled while QuickInstaller loads its list no longer shows an error row. The release notes open with a short summary, and the full list is one click away.

Fix: When an app had no usable name, the Installed and Portable lists stopped refreshing update status. The lists now keep refreshing, and that app stays in the list without an update status. Update checks can continue when the connection drops while renewing sign-in. When the update helper copy inside the installation is missing, QuickInstaller now checks for updates with its backup copy instead of failing. Every time QuickInstaller checked for an update it ran its update helper from a new folder under Temp, so a firewall such as Windows Firewall Control saw a new program each time and a rule you made never applied to the next check. The helper now always runs from the same folder: %LocalAppData%\QuickInstaller\ClientUpdateCoordinator\Current\QuickInstaller.UpdateCoordinator.exe for the installed version and %LocalAppData%\QuickInstaller Portable\ClientUpdateCoordinator\Current\QuickInstaller.exe for the portable version, so one rule for that file is enough. Copies left in Temp by earlier versions are cleaned up. When an app lost its definition, for example because beta versions were turned off, it could still be counted as having an update. Installing updates then stopped before installing anything, even for the other apps. That app is now left out, and the other updates install as usual. When Windows blocked the update helper from starting, QuickInstaller sent a diagnostic report. It now keeps the failure in its local log instead. The update still fails, because QuickInstaller respects the Windows restriction. Downloading an app that failed to connect (for example with no route to the server) used to send up to five separate diagnostic reports, none of which said which app or step they belonged to. A report now names the app and the download step, and is sent only once. When QuickInstaller contacts a download server directly and times out before receiving any response, it keeps the error in local logs without sending a diagnostic report. The download itself still fails after the same retries, and its error is still shown on the app. Expected connection failures in the background, such as a failed update check or a temporary server error, are now kept in the local log instead of being sent as diagnostic reports. A failed check still remains incomplete. When another program was using the app-list cache file and Windows blocked saving it, QuickInstaller sent a diagnostic report. It now keeps this in the local log; other failures to save the cache are still reported. When the catalog entry of an app named its installer inside a downloaded archive using a subfolder path, or put the installer name in quotes, updating it could fail with an error that the installer could not be found, because QuickInstaller rewrote the path and the options after it before using them. QuickInstaller now reads the installer path and its options exactly as the catalog writes them. When a download failed because QuickInstaller was not allowed to write to the download folder, you only saw a general error. It now says that it cannot write to that folder, names it, and tells you to choose another download folder in Settings. This also covers a download folder that does not exist and cannot be created. The installed edition can now request a Windows restore point before installing or updating apps when this option is enabled. It asks for administrator approval once for the batch when needed. Windows must have System Protection enabled and may reuse a recent restore point. With the All supported apps filter selected in the Installed or Portable list, apps whose status is Server Error disappeared. The filter now shows every app QuickInstaller supports and hides only apps with the status Submitted or Not Available. The keyboard shortcuts that open the log file, the download folder, the application folder and the settings files, listed under Settings > System > Keyboard reference, did nothing while Settings was open. They now work and Settings stays open. Refresh, the app menu and the login shortcut stay unavailable while Settings is open, because they act on the page behind it. Updating or installing some apps failed with an error before their installer started, because their definition has no silent installer option. These apps now start their installer, which you complete yourself. When QuickInstaller failed to start and showed an error, closing its window could show a second error message and report another problem. Closing it now simply exits. An app uninstalled, or updated by reinstalling, while QuickInstaller was loading the Installed list showed an error row until the list refreshed. The app now keeps its last values and disappears from the list without an error or a diagnostic report. Cancelling a scan of installed apps while it reads Windows app packages (MSIX) no longer sends a failure report or returns an incomplete app list. When QuickInstaller could not read a Start Menu, desktop or taskbar shortcut, for example because the file was damaged or had just been removed, it skipped that shortcut and also sent a diagnostic report about it. It still skips the shortcut and notes it in the local log, but no longer sends a report. This does not make the shortcut readable. When the icon file of an installed app, such as the logo of a Store app, exists but cannot be read as an image, loading the app list could show a critical error message. The app now shows without an icon and the rest of the list loads as usual. When the text of a Windows startup entry was malformed, QuickInstaller sent an error report every time it scanned for apps. It now skips that text without a report and still finds the valid startup entries. Installing an app from Browse Apps that can be installed either for the current user or for all users, such as Python, failed with an error before the installer started. These apps now install for all users. The navigation menu can now expand or collapse while the current app view is busy. Switching views stays unavailable until the operation finishes. When a display component of the .NET Desktop Runtime (wpfgfx_cor3.dll) was missing or blocked, for example removed by security software, QuickInstaller showed dozens of critical error messages in a row and sent a diagnostic report for each. It now explains the problem once, with how to repair it, and closes without sending a report. Resizing the Name or Status column in Browse Apps also resized the other one, and in Portable Apps the Latest Update and Last Updated columns resized together. Each column now keeps its own width. Installing a portable app from Browse Apps right after its publisher released a new build could fail with a generic error, because QuickInstaller checked the download before the catalog had finished refreshing its checksum. QuickInstaller now waits up to 90 seconds for the catalog to finish refreshing. Opening Windows Settings from a Store app maintenance menu no longer shows a critical error. If Windows cannot open Settings, QuickInstaller reports that maintenance was not completed. When Windows blocked saving the view settings, QuickInstaller could show a critical error and report the settings as saved. It now shows the save failure in Settings with Retry. This does not make the file writable. What's new, and the release notes on the website, showed the summary and then every detail at once, so each heading such as Fix appeared twice. When a release has more than three details, they now start collapsed behind Show full release notes.
v1.0.4 · Released
Fix: The Portable list keeps refreshing when a scanned folder contains a subfolder you are not allowed to open. Starting QuickInstaller as administrator now explains when it cannot open, instead of doing nothing. Starting QuickInstaller again while it is starting, waiting at its license agreement or updating itself now brings its window forward. Starting QuickInstaller again when it is running but not responding now offers to close it and start again. QuickInstaller no longer shows an error when Windows cannot create its notification-area icon, and its window stays reachable from the taskbar. An unexpected error during startup now shows a message and closes QuickInstaller, instead of leaving it running without a window.

Fix: The Portable app list stopped refreshing, and Scan failed, when a folder QuickInstaller scans contained a subfolder you are not allowed to open. QuickInstaller now skips that subfolder and still lists the apps in the folders you can open. When you started QuickInstaller as administrator and Windows also gave its window administrator rights, QuickInstaller closed without showing anything while a second copy waited in the background for about 45 seconds. QuickInstaller still never shows its window with administrator rights, but it now explains why it cannot open and closes both copies at once. Starting QuickInstaller again while it was still starting, waiting for you to accept the license agreement, or updating itself could do nothing for 10 seconds and leave the window hidden. QuickInstaller now answers at once and brings the agreement or its window forward. Opening QuickInstaller yourself also no longer starts it minimized after an earlier update check. If QuickInstaller is already running but not responding, starting it again now tells you and offers to close the unresponsive copy and start again. When Windows could not create the QuickInstaller notification-area icon, an error message appeared, and a minimized window could have neither a tray icon nor a taskbar button. QuickInstaller now starts without that error and keeps its taskbar button whenever the icon is unavailable. An unexpected error early in startup could leave QuickInstaller running without a window. It now shows the error and closes.
v1.0.3 · Released
Fix: Updating an app that cannot be installed silently no longer fails when it needs administrator access. Submitting an app no longer fails when you need to sign in first. Updating a Windows app package (MSIX) no longer fails with an error. Your view settings are saved again when their settings file was marked read-only.
Show full release notes
Fix: When an app's definition does not allow silent installation, the Update button failed with an error for apps that need administrator access, although installing from the right-click menu worked. The update now opens the app's own installer with the installer parameters from its definition, so you can complete it. When you submitted an app while signed out, QuickInstaller gave up after 10 seconds, before most people could finish signing in, then opened a second sign-in page and showed an error. You now have a full minute to sign in. If you do not finish signing in, QuickInstaller now says so instead of showing an error. Updating an installed Windows app package (MSIX), by hand or in a scheduled run, failed with an error because QuickInstaller could not confirm which Windows users had the app installed. QuickInstaller now updates the app for your own Windows account, which is the account it was found under. QuickInstaller could not save your view settings, such as the simple list view, when their settings file was marked read-only or hidden. It now replaces the file, and a save that is still blocked by Windows permissions is no longer reported as a QuickInstaller error.
v1.0.2 · Released
Fix: Checking for app updates no longer hangs when QuickInstaller itself must be updated first. Scheduled update runs no longer report a failed app scan.
Fix: When the server required a newer QuickInstaller, Check for updates and scheduled update runs waited forever. QuickInstaller now finishes the check and installs its required update as soon as it is idle. A scheduled run that updates installed apps also started the normal startup scan, which failed and showed an error notification. Opening QuickInstaller during or after a run also loaded the app list again. The run now loads the list once and QuickInstaller keeps it.
v1.0.1 · Released
Fix: Tasks that need administrator access work again, including running QuickInstaller as administrator and turning on automatic update checks.
Fix: QuickInstaller 1.0.0 could not start its administrator helper and reported that the helper did not satisfy product signing policy. Running as administrator, configuring automatic update checks, and other tasks behind the UAC prompt failed. The helper is found again.
v1.0.0 · Released
New: Zero-install Portable downloads for x86 and x64 that run from any folder or USB drive. MSIX and MSIX bundle packages signed with a trusted certificate can now be installed, and installed MSIX apps are detected and told apart as Store, built-in or directly installed. Native ARM64 support: Setup picks the right x86, x64 or ARM64 client, and Browse and update checks favour packages your PC can run. Browse Applications searches the catalog on the server and loads results 50 at a time, and the apps you tick stay selected across searches and filters. Uninstalling and deleting apps starts from an in-app review where you choose which apps to remove and in what order, and installed apps can offer Modify, Repair and Terminate. Automatic update checks now run inside QuickInstaller at normal permission, install updates silently, and report how many apps were updated, skipped or failed. Work that needs administrator access runs in an isolated helper behind a single Windows UAC prompt, so QuickInstaller itself stays at normal permission. QuickInstaller now updates itself safely: a failed update can be retried or repaired, and a changed agreement is shown before you continue.
Improved: QuickInstaller starts faster, and the Installed, Portable and Browse lists load and sort much faster. New Violet and Graphite themes in Light, Dark or System mode, and a searchable Settings that saves changes immediately. The whole app is translated into all supported languages, and you can add or refine a translation yourself under Settings > Language.
Fix: Ignored updates are now kept for good: they no longer come back when an app changes, and a damaged ignore file is restored from a backup instead of being wiped. Update detection is more accurate: side-by-side versions such as the .NET Desktop Runtimes now get their update, versions are read from the right place, and "Restart required" stays until Windows actually restarts. The app no longer freezes while checking many installed apps, server connection problems are reported clearly, and the window and pop-ups stay on screen after display changes. Donate and Login stay available during installs, automatic uninstall removes Windows Installer (MSI) apps silently again, and batch uninstalls move on to the next app sooner.
Privacy: Diagnostic sharing and usage analytics are off by default and each needs its own fresh choice, which you can change in Settings.
Show full release notes
New: The Installed app removal popup now offers Modify and Repair when the publisher allows them, plus Terminate for a verified app executable or MSIX package. Publisher removal restrictions are respected. MSIX apps also link to Windows Settings for Repair and Reset, and Close Process now waits for the app to close and reports the result.
New: QuickInstaller self-updates are now recoverable and can require a client update before checking third-party software. Future agreement revisions marked as requiring acceptance are shown in full before client use or self-update; declining at startup closes QuickInstaller, declining before an update skips that update, and accepting the license during interactive Setup counts for the installed version. QuickInstaller asks you to accept the current agreement until you do, and optional sharing choices stay separate. A background check shows an animated blue Update button in the main-window title bar, while a manual check shows the discovered version in a Yes/No dialog. Applying an update temporarily blocks other client actions and explains that QuickInstaller will close and reopen automatically; Update failures use one recovery dialog containing both Retry and Repair. Installed editions keep package-owned active and recovery copies of their update coordinator; normal and manual Setup refresh that recovery copy, while a coordinated update preserves it. One universal Installed Setup now selects the native x86, x64, or ARM64 client apphost to match its required Desktop Runtime. Each zero-install Portable download contains one architecture-specific QuickInstaller executable, creates its user-owned settings file beside it only when needed, and keeps no coordinator files on the portable drive. The download page offers x86 and x64 Portable ZIPs for Stable, plus ARM64 for Beta, that can run from an extracted folder or USB drive; Installed Setup requires Windows 10 version 1809 or newer. After a normal visible startup, QuickInstaller now shows the selected release's built-in notes once. Closing the native dialog records that release for the current Installed or Portable profile; hidden or minimized startup waits without forcing the window forward.
New: MSIX and MSIX bundle installer support — packages signed with a trusted certificate now use Windows' built-in package management, with installed packages detected from live registrations and rechecked immediately before update or removal.
New: Installed-apps settings to include Microsoft Store apps and built-in Windows apps in the list (both hidden by default, so you see your own installed apps first).
New: MSIX apps are now identified by where they came from — the Microsoft Store, built into Windows, or installed directly (sideloaded, like Claude). The list shows your directly-installed apps by default; Store and built-in apps can be shown too.
New: Available third-party updates and background-completion results now appear as non-modal QuickInstaller pop-ups, with optional sounds and actions that run when you click the hovered message text; the title, icon and surrounding card remain inert, while the close button only dismisses the pop-up. QuickInstaller's own available update uses the title-bar button or the manual-check dialog instead.
New: The installer and Settings now offer separate, default-off choices for diagnostic sharing and minimal active-installation analytics. Neither choice enables the other, continuing without sharing does not affect QuickInstaller functionality, and the one-time in-app reminder waits until startup work is finished and QuickInstaller has been idle for ten seconds.
New: Installed uninstalls and portable-app deletions now open an in-app review where you can choose which apps to remove and arrange their execution order. Installed apps offer interactive or automatic uninstall, with each catalog definition's exact silent-uninstall options applied consistently to current-user and all-users apps, while portable apps can be deleted permanently or moved to the Recycle Bin for recovery.
New: Administrator-required installed-app maintenance, protected Portable updates, Installed QuickInstaller Setup updates, and AppApi-authorized catalog EXE/MSI installers now use an isolated helper while QuickInstaller itself stays at normal permission. Windows UAC is the permission prompt, without a second QuickInstaller dialog. A manual administrator launch hands its verified helper to the final normal-permission client until that client closes, including from per-user and Portable folders, and restores an existing minimized or tray window. The Keep administrator access until QuickInstaller closes setting under Settings > Downloads & installation is off by default, and is on after upgrading from 0.5.x only if Launch as administrator was on. When on, it reuses the first helper approved during ordinary work until the app closes; when off, it keeps one approved helper for the complete current batch, never one prompt per row. Cancelling or declining elevation cancels the whole batch just like its Cancel action, while an unavailable, rejected, or unsigned administrator route fails only that row so independent work can continue.
New: Installed and Portable automatic update checks now run in QuickInstaller itself at normal permission without opening its window. Each run checks your Installed and Portable apps and installs their updates exactly as Install Updates Silently does, skipping ignored apps and apps that cannot update silently. An app counts as updated only when its new version is detected. Closing QuickInstaller while a run is applying updates cancels that run immediately instead of waiting for it to finish. Afterwards the status bar lists how many apps were updated, skipped or failed, a failed app is announced once for each offered version, and the usual apps-updated notification appears when something was updated and the new Scheduled updates setting Show a notification after updates are applied (on by default) is on. Installed automatic updates require an administrator account, while standard users can schedule Portable updates when their destination is writable. Disabling a schedule preserves its selected apps, time and idle choice. Settings waits until the scheduled-updates page is visible before repairing an outdated task, shows Repair only after a cancelled permission prompt, and reuses retained administrator access when available. Updates that need administrator access are skipped without showing UAC when no administrator access is retained, and Portable schedules remain repairable after their folder moves.
Improved: Browse Applications now searches the catalog on the server and loads results in batches of 50 as you scroll, instead of downloading the whole catalog first. Type a search and choose filters, then press Enter or click Search to apply them together, or click a category name to browse that category at once; matching ignores letter case and accents. Apps you check stay visible above the results across searches, filters and scrolling, keep the installer you chose, and are exactly what Install uses. The list shows loaded and selected counts, a Clear selection button unchecks every selected app, and a Show earlier results button reloads results you scrolled past. Browse no longer offers Export, the Installed filter or column sorting; installed apps are still marked in the list. Importing an app list now looks up only the apps it names, including portable apps, and shows them as selected apps; the list shows only your selected apps until you search again. When apps are already selected, you choose whether to keep or discard them, or cancel. The import reports how many apps were selected, already installed or not found.
Improved: The obsolete global 32-bit installer preference has been removed. Browse Applications chooses installers that Windows can run, prefers native ARM64 packages on ARM64 devices, and keeps supported architecture choices available for each app. Installed and Portable update checks, including scheduled checks, now use executable architecture evidence and the architectures Windows can run; uncertain ARM64 installations receive only architecture-neutral updates.
Improved: The app can now be translated into more languages — anyone can add or refine a translation, and any text that hasn't been translated yet simply falls back to English instead of appearing blank. Available languages are picked up automatically and listed under their own name.
Improved: Both language pickers now put the languages you prefer in Windows first, use the first supported preference as the initial selection, show each language under its own name with its English name alongside it, and visually separate those matches from the remaining languages.
New: Settings > Language now lets you contribute a translation directly — open your personal translations folder, copy your active language as a starting point (to improve it, or as a template for a new language), and restart to load it. The Settings screens are now fully translatable.
New: Browse Applications can now download a package without installing it, using the same option available for Installed and Portable Applications. The option is consistently named Download package and is unavailable when the package definition has an error.
New: Interrupted downloads can now resume from saved progress when supported, including after restarting QuickInstaller.
Improved: The entire app is now translatable and fully translated into all supported languages — the Installed Applications, Portable Applications, and Browse Applications screens (toolbars, right-click menus, column headers, status text), the main window, tray icon menu, and the About/Feedback/restart dialogs.
Improved: The About screen, installer and legal notices now identify QuickInstaller's verified legal operator and organization number, while legally required business contact details are kept in one place on the Contact page.
Improved: Pop-up dialogs now follow your language as well — the confirmations, warnings and information boxes were the last part of the app still fixed in English no matter which language you picked. This covers deleting log files, resetting settings, deleting the app cache, logging out, deleting a portable app, creating shortcuts, exporting a list, the feedback thank-you, and the messages shown when your browser can't be opened.
Improved: The confusing "Currently Unavailable" status has been renamed to "Server Error" and now shows a tooltip explaining that QuickInstaller's server couldn't refresh that app's update info, and that this is usually temporary.
Improved: Submit, Edit submission and Vote buttons in the Installed and Portable app lists now explain what each action does; unavailable submissions also explain why Microsoft Store and built-in Windows apps cannot be accepted.
Fix: Portable app updates now keep the current operation status visible while showing the row detail below it. Browse Applications now shows row progress in that detail slot, without repeating the same install phase in both status-bar lines. Installed and Portable updates now wait briefly for Windows to report a changed version observation before saying an update made no change.
Fix: With "Auto select updates" enabled, an installed app whose update was found only by a later background recheck — rather than by the main update check — was listed as having an update but left unticked, so "Update selected" silently skipped it. Those updates are now ticked along with the rest, as long as you have not changed the ticked list yourself since the check; once you have, your selection is left alone.
Fix: For apps configured to close specific background processes before installing, a process name written with a wildcard (such as "chrome*", to cover a program's helper processes) was quietly ignored and nothing was closed — even though the same wildcard already worked in the related setting for processes to wait for. Wildcards now work consistently everywhere a process name is used, so those installs no longer fail on a file still in use.
Fix: When several versions of the same program were installed side by side — for example the .NET 8.0 and 9.0 Desktop Runtimes — their updates were never offered: the outdated ones reported OK even though a newer version was available. Each group of versions that replace one another is now offered its update on the newest version you have installed, so you get one update to apply per group instead of nothing at all — and instead of the same update repeated once for every old version still on the machine. The older ones show OK - Superseded, meaning the newer install beside them is the one carrying the update.
Fix: Installed and Portable versions of the same app are now grouped by app name and ordered newest-first with a consistent platform tie-breaker.
Fix: Programs whose version QuickInstaller has to read from their name in the installed-programs list, or from the description inside their program file, could be compared against a completely unrelated version number and end up with the wrong update status. Both are now read from the right place.
Fix: The tray icon's right-click menu kept the language it started in — switching language updated the rest of the app but left Open, Check for updates, Open log and Exit in the old language until the next restart. The menu now follows the language you pick, immediately.
Fix: The installed version of this beta would not start at all — it closed immediately with a Windows error log entry and no window. A support file needed at startup was left out of the installer, so QuickInstaller failed before it could even show its splash screen (running it straight from the build folder still worked, which is why it went unnoticed).
Fix: Ignored updates came back on their own after a while. An app updating itself could change the details QuickInstaller used to recognise it — switching from 32-bit to 64-bit, a publisher renaming itself, or simply being briefly absent while an update reinstalled it — and the next scan then treated your ignore rule as belonging to nothing and deleted it. What you choose to ignore is now kept no matter how the app changes, and nothing deletes it automatically.
Fix: "Restart required" disappeared on its own, sometimes while QuickInstaller was still open. QuickInstaller worked out whether Windows had restarted by comparing two clocks that drift apart, so normal clock adjustments looked like a restart — and after about 25 days of uptime the calculation broke outright. A pending restart is now cleared only by an actual restart.
Fix: Ignoring an update is now saved immediately. Previously it was only written to disk if something else happened to save afterwards, so closing QuickInstaller at the wrong moment lost it.
Fix: If the file holding your ignored updates was damaged (by a crash or power loss while saving), QuickInstaller silently started over from empty and then overwrote the file — losing everything. It now keeps a backup, restores from it automatically, and never overwrites a file it could not read.
Improved: "Delete app cache" no longer clears your ignored updates, pending restarts or update history — it only removes cached lists and temporary files. Clearing those is now its own action, "Forget remembered apps", under Settings > Data & diagnostics, and it tells you exactly what it will forget before doing it.
Fix: When the server couldn't be reached while checking for updates — a connection timeout or dropped connection — the app could report a hard error instead of the expected "could not connect to server" message; these network problems are now recognized correctly.
Fix: A slow server could cause the app to wait far longer than intended when reporting a download problem or fetching a download; these requests now time out promptly.
Fix: The app could stop responding while checking for updates on PCs with many installed applications — the update check no longer blocks the interface.
Fix: Checking for a new QuickInstaller version could crash when a download error occurred (for example when the setup file was locked by another process); the error is now reported cleanly instead.
Fix: Browser sign-in callbacks now connect reliably even when the browser responds immediately. If an update has already closed the original sign-in session, QuickInstaller keeps or opens the sole matching client, explains that sign-in must be retried, and never transfers callback secrets through normal startup messages or logs.
Fix: Opening Feedback could fail if an image disappeared from the clipboard while the dialog was reading it; the dialog now opens normally and simply leaves the optional screenshot empty. Its Send logs option now includes the client log, update-coordinator log, and latest privileged-host audit log in one readable attachment.
Fix: A protected all-users installation could be rejected before UAC because limited permission to create unrelated items at the Windows drive root was mistaken for permission to replace QuickInstaller. The host now keeps the full product-tree checks while evaluating ancestor replacement authority correctly.
Fix: Cancelling a Feedback submission is now shown as cancelled instead of as an error.
Fix: Right-clicking a row in the app lists could show a context menu full of blank lines; right-clicking now selects that row and shows the correct menu for it.
Fix: Settings could manage Desktop and Start menu shortcuts in the current user's folders even when QuickInstaller was installed for all users. It now uses the correct shared folders, and an all-users update moves or removes any duplicate shortcuts left in the wrong place.
Fix: App-list header menus now become unavailable while their list is empty or busy, instead of offering actions that cannot run.
Improved: The right-click menus in the Installed and Portable app lists are simpler and consistent — Order By Status is now offered on the app row menu in both lists, and the redundant Scan entry was removed from them (the Scan button and F5 still work as before).
Improved: Browse Applications no longer shows the "Latest app update" date above the list.
Fix: The text cursor in app-list search boxes now uses the same clear, theme-aware color as entered text instead of the faint placeholder color.
Fix: The navigation icons on the left never showed a tooltip when the menu was collapsed, since the tooltip was attached to an element that couldn't receive mouse hover; collapsing the menu now shows the same text as a tooltip that the expanded labels display.
Fix: Removing the registry program entry of an app installed for all users failed with an error. It now asks for administrator approval and removes the entry; entries installed for the current user are still removed without a prompt.
Fix: Automatic refreshes now leave download, install and delete progress alone, keep each row's final result visible, and make sure every app selected in a batch reaches a finished status.
Improved: Long-running actions across Installed, Portable and Browse Applications now use consistent progress and cancellation handling — each ready package starts in order while later packages continue downloading and preparing. Using QuickInstaller's Cancel action or declining an elevation prompt cancels the whole batch, marks every waiting app cancelled straight away, and lets an app already installing finish before its row becomes cancelled; cancelling inside a vendor installer's own window cancels only that app and later apps continue. Final and mixed batch results stay visible with completed and failed counts, safe remaining apps continue after an ordinary failure, and the tray always returns to the QuickInstaller product name.
Fix: Installed and Portable app changes detected during scans, installs or removals are now reconciled afterward instead of being lost. Existing rows keep their state, changed and new rows are checked again together in one efficient batch, and an earlier update result is visibly marked unverified until a fresh check succeeds; removed apps disappear, and Submit or Ignore is offered only after the appropriate successful server result — neither is offered for a server-error definition.
Fix: Installed-app update checks now use cached app, executable and install-location data immediately for fast startup results, release scan progress and cancellation as soon as the visible result completes, keep manual checks ahead of background refresh work, stop remaining startup scan/check work when cancelled, refresh paths once in the background, silently correct only affected idle rows, and avoid repeating unchanged disk searches on later checks.
Fix: Portable Applications scans now finish reliably, including when automatic update checks are enabled, and folder changes are detected without creating a separate watcher for every app.
Fix: Portable Applications now refreshes the selected update count and download size when update results arrive after the startup scan, instead of leaving the status bar at zero.
Fix: Portable Applications now shows the matched app or apps in a portable app folder after an update check and hides unrelated executables in that folder and its subfolders. Separately matched executables in the same folder remain available.
Fix: Cached Installed and Portable app lists now recover from stale, missing or out-of-order cache updates instead of keeping old rows or overwriting newer results.
Fix: Notification pop-ups could appear in the wrong place, or partly off-screen, after changing your screen resolution, display scaling, or monitor setup while QuickInstaller was running. They now reposition correctly, including any pop-up already on screen when the change happens.
Fix: Notification pop-ups now appear reliably while QuickInstaller is minimized to the system tray, even if an earlier notification was shown before minimizing.
Fix: Changing your display resolution, scaling, or monitor setup (for example, undocking a laptop) while QuickInstaller was closed or running could leave the main window's title bar stranded above the top of the screen, out of reach. The window now fits itself back onto a visible screen automatically, both at startup and immediately after a display change.
Fix: Clicking Check for updates could leave the entire title bar unresponsive — Settings, Feedback and the menu stopped working — if the download progress window opened invisibly behind the main window. The download window now always opens visibly in front and releases the title bar normally when it closes.
Fix: QuickInstaller Beta showed up as its own entry in the Installed Applications list instead of being excluded like the running app always is. Beta now recognizes and excludes itself the same way the regular release does.
Improved: A fresh QuickInstaller install now opens the main window at a normal, non-maximized size instead of always starting maximized.
Improved: The main window can no longer be resized smaller than a minimum usable size.
Improved: The Installed, Portable and Browse Applications lists now load, sort and automatically reorder much faster, while keeping row selection, expanded details and app actions responsive. Completed update checks now publish row results and their final automatic order together, while operation-triggered status sorting returns to the start of the list once so the active result is visible.
Improved: Bottom status messages now use clear informational, warning and error colors so important results are easier to recognize.
Improved: The navigation panel now uses a softer surface color with a clear selected-item state in both Light and Dark themes.
Improved: Installed and Portable app lists now start their startup refresh as soon as the main window is ready, instead of waiting through a fixed pause, so the window remains responsive while fresh app data begins loading sooner.
Improved: QuickInstaller now opens much faster by loading its visual theme only once and waiting until after the splash screen to prepare it. Settings now offers coordinated QuickInstaller Violet and Graphite themes with Light, Dark, or live System mode; changes apply immediately throughout open windows, dialogs, and notifications, with modernized controls, navigation, dialog title bars, and compact app-list toolbars whose outlined buttons and action grouping stay consistent across views.
Improved: The Donate action now uses the same gift icon in the main window and navigation drawer.
Fix: Donate and Login buttons now remain available while Installed, Portable, or Browse Apps is busy installing or updating apps.
Fix: Automatic uninstall again removes Windows Installer (MSI) apps silently instead of opening the installer window. Batch uninstalls now start the next app as soon as the previous uninstall finishes, while keeping the brief delay before its completed row disappears.
Improved: Settings is now an adaptive, searchable workspace organized around common tasks, with changes saved immediately (the Windows startup and automatic-update tasks are written once when Settings closes) and clear recovery when saving fails. App-list appearance choices now live in one View menu available directly from Installed, Portable and Browse Apps.
Improved: This changelog now shows the QuickInstaller version each set of changes shipped in, and the version is written the same way everywhere — in the title bar, the About box, the installer and here — with trailing zeroes left off, so this release reads as 0.6.1 rather than 0.6.1.0.
Improved: Updated QuickInstaller to the latest .NET 10 runtime for better performance and long-term support; the installer now downloads and installs the .NET 10 Desktop Runtime automatically if it isn't already present.
Improved: More reliable detection of whether the required .NET runtime is already installed — the installer now checks the actual installed runtime files instead of registry entries (which can linger after an uninstall), so the runtime is installed whenever it is genuinely missing.
Improved: App logos in the lists are noticeably sharper, especially on high-DPI screens and in dense rows. They are stored at a higher resolution, icons and vector logos are rendered at the size they are actually shown at instead of being blown up from a small frame, wide logos are letterboxed rather than stretched, and empty space around a logo is trimmed so the artwork fills the row. Logos also no longer disappear when a vendor moves, renames or deletes the image on their own site — QuickInstaller keeps the one it already has.
Improved: QuickInstaller now finds more of an installed app's own executables and more reliably picks the right one as its main executable — it checks both 32-bit and 64-bit registry locations, Start Menu and taskbar-pinned shortcuts, and "Open with" associations, rejects executables that belong to another product, prefers the strongest product and version match over an unrelated updater or helper, and only closes or stops an automatically discovered executable when its exact trusted path matches the running process.
Privacy: QuickInstaller no longer treats the old default-on "Send error reports" setting as permission. Diagnostic reports and usage analytics now require separate fresh choices; both start off and can be changed later in Settings.
