Get started

QuickInstaller keeps the apps on your Windows PC up to date and installs new ones from a single window. This page covers choosing an edition, your first launch, and where the main controls are.

Choose an edition

Both editions have the same lists and features.

Installer. Runs Setup and adds QuickInstaller to your PC like any other app. If the Windows Desktop Runtime is missing, Setup downloads it for you.
Portable. One executable you run from any folder or a USB drive, with no installation. It creates its settings file next to itself only when you first change a setting, and keeps settings separate from an Installer copy.

Both need Windows 10 version 1809 or later.

Install or unpack

Open the Download page.
For the Installer, choose Download installer, run the file and follow Setup.
For Portable, choose the download that matches your PC, such as Windows x64. Extract the ZIP and run QuickInstaller.exe.

Your first launch

QuickInstaller shows a short splash screen and then the main window. Installed Applications scans your PC and checks which apps have updates, so give it a moment. You may also see:

What's new in QuickInstaller, shown once for each release.
Help improve QuickInstaller. Diagnostic reports and usage analytics are both off unless you turn them on. Choose Continue without sharing to skip it. See Privacy and data choices.

The three lists

Use the navigation on the left to switch lists.

Installed Applications: the apps installed on this PC. Toolbar: Scan, Check, Update, Uninstall, Export.
Portable Applications: apps that run from a folder without being installed. QuickInstaller looks in your portable apps folder and any folders you add under Settings › App lists & sources › Portable apps. Toolbar: Scan, Check, Update, Delete, Export.
Browse Applications: QuickInstaller's catalog. Search it, tick apps and choose Install. Toolbar: Refresh, Install, Import.

Find Settings

Choose the Settings button at the right end of the title bar. A panel opens with six categories: Appearance & language, Downloads & installation, App lists & sources, Updates & automation, System, and Data & diagnostics. Use Search settings to jump to a setting. Changes save as you make them.

The menu button beside it holds Documentation, Donate, Check for update and About QuickInstaller. Press F5 to refresh the current list.
