Privacy and data choices
QuickInstaller has two optional kinds of sharing: diagnostic reports and usage analytics. Both are off until you turn them on, they are independent of each other, and QuickInstaller works the same if you decline both.
Where you choose
- Setup (Installed edition). The interactive installer has an Optional data sharing page with two unchecked boxes: Share diagnostic reports and Share usage analytics. Silent installs skip the page, so nothing is shared.
- First start (Installed and Portable). If you have not chosen yet, QuickInstaller offers the choice once, after about ten idle seconds with the window open: Help improve QuickInstaller. Pick Save choices or Continue without sharing. Portable has no Setup, so this is where Portable users choose.
- Settings, at any time. Open Settings › Data & diagnostics › Logging & diagnostics. Tick or untick Allow QuickInstaller to send diagnostic reports and Share usage analytics.
What each choice shares
Diagnostic reports help diagnose failures. A report may include error details, technical context and the affected app. Before sending, QuickInstaller redacts known secret and signed-link patterns, command-line and environment-dump patterns, and user-identifying parts of file paths. Error text can still contain incidental personal or confidential details, so this stays your choice. Reports are used for human, automated and AI-assisted diagnosis and fix suggestions. The choice does not allow external model training.
Usage analytics send at most one daily activity signal containing a random ID, the QuickInstaller and Windows versions, the architecture and an IP address. The server uses the IP address only briefly to work out a country, and stores the country, not the address. The random ID is created only after you opt in and changes every calendar year.
Change or withdraw your choice
Untick the box in Settings. Sending stops immediately. QuickInstaller then keeps retrying deletion of what was already sent, until the server confirms it. Nothing in QuickInstaller stops working.
