Remove, modify or repair apps

Remove apps from Installed Applications, or delete portable apps from Portable Applications. Every removal opens a review first, so nothing happens until you confirm.

Uninstall installed apps

  1. In Installed Applications, tick the apps and choose Uninstall. For one app, you can right-click it and choose Uninstall or change….
  2. In the Review uninstall window, pick the Uninstall mode. Interactive shows each app's normal uninstaller. Automatic where supported uninstalls without questions when the app allows it and otherwise shows its normal uninstaller, and a warning tells you how many apps will do that. The starting choice follows Uninstall apps silently in Settings › App lists & sources › Installed apps.
  3. With several apps, untick any you want to keep, or use Select all. Drag a row's handle, or use Move up and Move down, to set the removal order. Unavailable marks apps that cannot be removed right now.
  4. Choose Uninstall app or Uninstall N apps. Cancel closes the review and changes nothing.

Modify, repair or terminate one app

Right-click one app, choose Uninstall or change…, then open Advanced. It lists only what that app supports:

  • Modify changes which features are installed, using the app's own setup.
  • Repair runs the installer's repair to restore missing or damaged files.
  • Terminate closes the app and its related processes, forcing any that do not respond. QuickInstaller asks you to confirm first, because unsaved work is lost.
  • For Microsoft Store apps, Open Installed apps in Windows Settings leads to Repair and Reset.

Choosing one starts it straight away. If the publisher blocks removal, the window says The publisher doesn't allow direct removal of this app.

Delete portable apps

  1. In Portable Applications, tick the apps and choose Delete, or right-click one and choose Delete App....
  2. In Review deletion, pick the Deletion method: Delete permanently, or Move to Recycle Bin so you can get the app back.
  3. Choose Delete app or Delete N apps.

QuickInstaller removes only each app's executable, plus its folder if that folder ends up empty. Other files stay. Deletion is permanent unless you turn on Settings › App lists & sources › Portable apps › Move portable app deletions to the Recycle Bin by default. Changing the method for one deletion does not change that default. More in Portable apps.
