Keep apps updated

Find outdated apps

1. Open Installed Applications or Portable Applications.
2. Choose Scan. QuickInstaller reads your apps and checks them for updates. Choose Check to check again without scanning.
3. Look under the toolbar: All apps are up to date, or counts of Major updates available! and Minor updates available!. Outdated apps show Update Available in the Status column.
4. To list only those apps, set Filter: to Updates.

Update

1. Apps with updates are ticked for you. Untick any you want to leave alone. The View and list options menu in the list header also offers Clear All Checked, Check Available Updates, Check All and Invert Checked.
2. Choose Update.
3. Follow each app in the Status column: Waiting to download..., Downloading, Downloaded, waiting to install..., Updating, then Update Completed. Cancel stops the whole batch.

By default QuickInstaller installs silently when an app supports it. To see an installer's own windows, right-click Update and choose Install Updates. For one app, right-click its row and choose Install Update (Installed) or Apply Update (Portable).

Ignore an app or a version

Right-click the app, choose Ignore Update, then pick one:

• Permanently: no more updates for this app.
• This version: skip only the update on offer now.
• Major version: stay quiet until the next major release.
• Minor version: stay quiet until the next minor release.
• Beta versions: skip beta builds.
• Enabled: offer updates again.

An ignored app shows Ignored and is left out of updates, including scheduled ones. QuickInstaller remembers the choice for every row with that app name. The menu appears only for apps QuickInstaller recognizes. To clear every ignore choice, use Settings › Data & diagnostics › Data & maintenance › Forget remembered apps.

If an update does not finish

• Update Not Completed: Exit Code=... or Update failed: the installer reported a problem. Right-click the app and choose Install Update to see its own windows, or Download package to run it yourself.
• Restart Required: Windows must restart to finish. Use Restart computer in the menu.
• Update completed, but Windows still reports the same version: restart QuickInstaller or Windows, then Check again.
• Server Error: usually temporary. QuickInstaller keeps retrying.
• Still stuck? Right-click the app and choose Report feedback.
